26th August 2006 - Gary's Autobiography: Signing Dates to be announced!

Source: Press Release from Bloomsbury

Gary Barlow will be signing copies of his autobiography My Take nationwide in the UK and Ireland around publication on 5th October 2006.

Bloomsbury will announce the signing dates on their website at www.bloomsbury.com/garybarlow on Friday 1st September 2006.

The first TAKE THAT fan to email their details and their city of choice, after the announcement, will get a private audience with Gary Barlow before the signing starts and a free copy of his autobiography which he will personalise for them.

Gary Barlow will be signing nationwide between 6th-14th October.

Demand for signed copies is already huge. Bloomsbury’s website (www.bloomsbury.com/garybarlow) offered signed copies to the first 100 people to pre-order the book and sold out in less than 24 hours.

In his autobiography Gary Barlow — the original song-writing talent behind Take That — reveals the truth of life before, during and returning to the most successful British boy band ever.

Over 7 million people watched the ITV documentary on Take That. Their records sold millions, and they sold out arenas in less time than it took to play one of their singles. Gary Barlow was the band’s secret weapon: their gifted, down-to-earth front man who wrote and sang most of their greatest hits.

The band decided to quit at the height of their fame. What followed for Gary is an inspiring journey of highs and lows: from the promising start of his solo career to his crisis in confidence. The public who had once worshipped him almost seemed to forget he existed.

Much has been said about Gary but he himself has remained silent until now. For the first time, Gary tells the full story from his childhood in Cheshire to life after Take That. Gary will reveal what life on the road with Take That was really like and the truth behind the rumours of their petty feuding. He will also finally settle the speculation around his painfully public fall-out with Robbie. The text of the book will be illustrated with over a hundred photographs from Gary’s own private photograph albums which have never been seen before.

Throughout his experiences Gary has remained as determined and as positive as he was when he was given his first keyboard at eleven. It is this determination and spirit that has helped him bounce back. He has established himself as a successful songwriter writing for the likes of Blue, Delta Goodrem, and Charlotte Church. And now he’s made one of pop’s great comebacks with the Take That reunion tour, ten years after the band split up. Gary Barlow and Take That are back centre stage once again - where they belong.

9 August 2006: Gary's Autobiography - October 2006 - Gary will do 7 signings!

Source: www.bloomsbury.com

Click here to listen to a recorded message from Gary Barlow.

Following the sell-out Take That comeback tour of summer 2006, My Take  is Gary Barlow’s long-awaited, no-holds-barred autobiography, and previously-untold take on life inside Britain’s biggest boy-band.

For the first time Gary reveals the extraordinary truth behind the headlines, from the hedonistic glory years with Take That — the girls, the drugs, the money and the fights — to his very public fall-out with Robbie, and devastating post-Take That comedown. This is the story of a rollercoaster life and a glimpse into a showbiz world which deifies and demonises by turns.

Bloomsbury have confirmed that Gary will be doing 7 UK signings - dates to be announced on Monday, 21st August 2006. So keep checking back to the link above.

My Take is published by Bloomsbury in October 2006.  Find out more about the book here

Here is a snippet from the interview, kindly sent to us by The Magazine:-

The Magazine: "Do you think you’ll ever go back into acting?"

Jason: "No. I felt like a fake; I felt like I was acting and a true actor doesn’t feel like he’s acting. When I left the band, there was a panic like, “What next?” I knew that I wasn’t going to have a solo singing career, so I went along with the people advising me. They’d say, “Jason, you’ve got good looks, you’ve got this profile, you can get acting work.” I wasn’t thinking for myself, so just went along with it. I did two acting jobs and didn’t feel comfortable with either of them. I was out of my depth really."

Many thanks to The Magazine for sending this snippet! My magazine is ordered! To order yours, please go to http://www.take-that.co.uk/magazine.html

15 November 2005: Robbie misses Take That Reunion

Robbie misses Take That Reunion
Source: BBC News (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/music/4438428.stm)

Take That band members have been reunited to watch a documentary on the group but were snubbed by their most successful member - Robbie Williams

Williams decided to stay put in his Los Angeles home, rather than meet fellow members of the former boy band, who split up almost 10 years ago. A behind-the-scenes documentary of the group Take That... For The Record is being broadcast on ITV1 on Wednesday.

It coincides with the release of a greatest hits CD and DVD. Former members Jason Orange, Gary Barlow, Mark Owen and Howard Donald were pictured at the launch of the album, entitled Never Forget - The Ultimate Collection, at the Coronet Cinema, in London's Notting Hill.

They were Britain's biggest boy band, notching up 6 Number Ones and 10 million album sales. Their hits included Relight My Fire, Could It Be Magic and Back For Good. Robbie Williams walked out on the band six months before they called it a day.

Gary was tipped as the one who would go on to a successful solo career. But it was Williams who became a global superstar. Explaining his absence, the singer's spokeswoman said: "Robbie has been working hard promoting his new album and is having a well-deserved rest at home in LA before he releases his second single."

Speaking at the reunion band member Mark Owen said: "It would have been great to have had Robbie here tonight, but we were really glad he was involved in the documentary. I know Rob left early, but our memory is of us as a five, and I wouldn't have liked it if it was just us four."

The biggest British boy band of the 90s are back! Don't miss them live on GMTV next Friday!

The ultimate and original boy band, Take That, are set to stun fans old and new by including a completely new and unreleased song on their forthcoming greatest hits album 'Never Forget -The Ultimate Collection', which is released on 14th November 2005.

'Today I've Lost You' was originally written in 1996, and scheduled to be the follow up to Take That's massive chart hit 'Back For Good'.

Nine years on, the song has been revitalised and recorded by Gary Barlow, Howard Donald, Jason Orange and Mark Owen, marking the first new material released by the band since their split. See them live on GMTV next Friday!

Lost track

According to Gary Barlow, the four went into the studio during September and October of this year.  It was at a meeting with Sony BMG, the record company, in January that Mark Owen remembered that the track existed.

Sony BMG has since commented, "it was only after several months of working with the band that we discovered to our amazement that they had written this forgotten track. It's a true reflection of how talented the most entertaining boy band of all time were."

Written by Gary Barlow when he was only 23, this never-before-heard song undoubtedly adds an extra dose of excitement to the release of their Ultimate Collection, and is sure to create a huge noise within their loyal fan base and the media alike.

'Today I've Lost You' will sit next to their immense back catalogue of smash hits, with songs such as 'Everything Changes', 'It Only Takes A Minute' and 'Pray', as well as a brand new remix of 'Relight My Fire'  - all included on Never Forget- The Ultimate Collection. It's the first completely new compilation for nine years,

Also released on the same day is 'Never Forget' the DVD, containing videos to all the hits, live concert performances, photo gallery and fly-on-the-wall footage filmed by the band.

Never Forget -The Ultimate Collection, the album and the DVD are both released through Sony BMG on 14 November 2005.

15 September 2005: Take That - The Ultimate Documentary
We have been contacted by Talkback Thames, producers of what promises to be the definitive Take That documentary ever!  Denise Kelly, one of the Researchers, has asked me to post this information here on TTAP and I would encourage as many of you as possible to help her.

THE TAKE THAT STORY - DOCUMENTARY

Well, as everyone who visits the site will know only too well it's coming up to 10 years since Take That split up.  To mark that anniversary BMG are releasing a special Greatest Hits Album and TalkbackThames TV along with Syco (Simon Cowell's company) are making a programme for ITV 1 where the Take That Story can finally be told by the people that were actually there.

We will be talking to all five members of the band plus Nigel Martin-Smith who will tell us their memories of that phenomenal time and what they are all doing now.  And of course no programme would be complete without a word from the fans - and this is where you come in:

Were you at those amazing concerts?  Did you wait outside the venues to get a glimpse of your idols in their tour bus?  Do you have lots of memorabilia from that time?  Posters, programmes, keyrings and the famous Take That Dolls?  Were you devastated first by Robbie leaving and then the final split?  Did you phone the fans helpline that the band set up?  Are you still a great fan now?

If you would like to share your experiences with us please email me on denise.kelly@talkbackthames.tv  or call me on 0207 691 6589.

Ok guys, there you have it!  It's official!  Now it's over to you . . . .

The producers are very keen to make sure this is the definitive Take That documentary, let's show them that we are all still here "Keeping the Dream Alive"!
