hiya
does anyone else love the bbc4/2 quiz show QI with Stephen Fry? I think it's fab! For those of you who don't know it, it's apperantly a 26 year project, each series of 12 shows devoted to one letter to the alfabet. 4 panellists(on always is the great Alan Davies) get asked questions about anything starting with the series devoted letter, or anything that comes from that. (series one has such things as Andrew, Alan, Anteater, Adam and Eve, Arthropods etc etc etc. There is also a round on general ignorance at the end.
Now the questions are very difficult, and if you think you know it be careful because obvious yet wrong questions will give you -10 points! getting points though is not restricted to getting a question right but also if you have any information that is Quite Interesting. Still it is not unusual for contestants to finish with a total score that is less then 0....
What I like about it is that it is different, great humour, great guests, great host, and you manage to learn something in the process too! Without QI I would have never known who really invented the telephone, how many moons earth has, what the great Pliny the Elder suggested as a cure for people choking with a lump of bread in their throat, why Alsatians aren't allowed in the spanish army, why a pigeon doesn't like going to the movies etc etc etc!
love this show, unfortunately series 4 has just ended(the letter D) but the 5th series will be on next year and untill that time I have the dvd of series one to entertain me!
xx
