Does anyone watch the wright stuff on channel 5? I've been able to watch it becuase i'm on study leave. Anyway today they were talking about this topic, 'board with bono' from U2 about always advertising people to give money to Africa.
I think what he is doing is great but not everyone has got over 100 million pounds in the bank like he has and can't afford to always give to charity. Maybe celebritys such as him should give away a substantial amount of their millions of pounds to africa and not spend it on a house with 4o bedrooms in and about 10 swimming pools and tennis courts etc.....(may be a bit over the top but you get my drift..........)
Also i think if people are thinking about giving to charities more should be given to england as well.....as there are lots of homeless people here etc.......as they say 'charity starts st home........'
Just my opinion.......... :)

I agree with you about Celebs that should be giving more money. I always say that to my mum. They're on telly telling us to give more money when they have more money then sense most of the time! Most have so much money, that they dont know what to do with it. Don't go on telly telling us to give money...you can give a fair bit yourselves!!

I agree Anna. I know that Africa needs help but so do our charities here! I support a local charity that provides cancer nurses for children in our local hospital and in their own homes. This is vitally important especially if the diagnosis is terminal and the child wants to be at home with family. [smiley=smiley.gif]

Anna

I saw the show but onlt just read your thread.

I agree with you. Bono needs to stop making us 'working class people' feel guilty when we are all working all hours to feed our own children and keep clothes on there backs. I am not saying I don't care it does upset me to see such poorness and starvation esp as I have a child myself...my point is that he needs to go preach to the richer of us like the pop stars and the actors and actresses who get several million to star in a film and get them to donate to the charities...just one weeks wage would go such a long way to help.

I think it's the same as Robbie being everywhere this week urging us all to give a fiver to Unicef ... everytime I see it, I just think: "Why don't you give some of your millions?"

It's really bugging me!!

T be fair, I think alot of them do give a sustantial amount to charity but I know what you mean. It was like the time Paul & Heather were on Celeb Millionnaire quibbling about losing 32 grand...when Paul's worth 100 times more than that!!!
