View Full Version : Deal or No Deal?
Just curious if this show is being shown in the UK or other parts of the world? I really enjoy it...it's a game show kinda like Who Wants to be a Millionaire in the sense that it just popped up out of nowhere ran for a week straight and now runs 2 to 3 nights a week. Howie Mandell hosts it :) Anyways, tonight I was watching it and it was described as the "show that is sweeping the world" or something in that vein, so I was curious. I know it's shown in the US and Canada...anyone else seen or heard of it?

Not heard of it Kelly, then again, don't watch much telly :)

Well, you'd definately get it where you are...you might want to think about checking it out! It's quite enjoyable. Basically there are 26 cases (like mini-suitcases) brought out onto a stage by 26 models...and each case has an amount of money starting at $0.01 and going all the way up to $1,000,000. The contestant chooses a case and then has to open 6 of the other cases revealing what's in them to try and get a better idea of what's in his/her case. After opening 6 cases, the "banker" makes the contestant an offer to sell his/her case back to the game without knowing what is in it. The more small numbers the contestant opens, the higher the bank offer goes. It's quite fun (and tense) but I've been enjoying it.

We have it here in the UK, hosted by Noel Edmonds on Channel 4 at 4.00 (or 4.30 pm) every night and 7.00 pm on a Saturday.
I am hooked! *It's a game of chance, no questions except one - Deal or No Deal.
22 boxes for the person to choose from with prices ranging from 1p to £250,000
After 3 box choices "the banker" comes on the phone and makes the person in the seat an offer for his/her particular box, she can either accept or decline the offer - Deal or No Deal.
Last week there was a woman on a role, but she was a pensioner and accepted an offer from the banker of £18,500 - her box actually contained the £5,000
But it was a gamble between having £5,000 and £250,000 so as she had the £5,000 in her box she got a good deal with £18,500
I did see someone at one point *with the £250,000 in the box, but she had accepted £50,000. *Last night a lady turned down £14,500 from the banker and had only £1 in hers, so it's a game of chance. *She went away with £1.
I am hooked on the game, but can only see it on a Saturday when I am in work.
Laura, it is on in the States - not sure about Calif. but definitely in Florida, I saw it one night as we were watching before we went out.

I guess the stakes are a bit higher for the US version (plus I love Howie Mandell...he's so funny)...the guy tonight took a deal of $126,000 and it turned out his case had $750,000!!! Ouch! But then again, I've seen people go away with as little as $5 which is always hard to watch. I wonder if you'll get the US version at all over there because it's really new here and I think they're trying to expand it. I always get a kick out of watching Howie because he apparently has very severe OCD so if you watch how he deals with the contestants (won't ever shake their hands for example) it's quite interesting.

How about tonight's one right to the knife edge
I felt soo sorry for Lucy
Yes tonight's was very gripping!!! I am so glad he chose to go with the £7,000 :D THough I think the banker could have offered him at least £10,000!
What a swap for £750, I was hoping it would be that rather than the £35,000 that was in the other box. Two nights on the run with low pay out, good to see someone got a decent amount.
Have any of you tried to ring in for the viewers' money? I have tried a couple of times and always get Noel saying I haven't been successful! ;D ;D

Did you see tonight's show!!! Newly wed, Deal or No Deal for £125,000 - there was £75,000 and £250,000 left on the board!
She said "No Deal". She was then offered a swap for the other box, but she stuck with her own box. Her box had £75,000! If she had swapped she would have had £250,000 but hey who cares, £75,000 is a lot of money when you are just married :D
Wonderful show, had me on the edge, I was screaming at her to DEAL at £125,000! rofl ;)

I watched tonights DOND, the girls name was Julie & she did really well. She got all the way down to the last 2 boxes & decided to switch the boxes with £15,000 or £20,000 at stake & the bankers offer was £17,500.
Before Noel opened the box she revealed that a tarot card reader told her her lucky number was no.10 so this was the box she switched no.20 for. On opening the box Noel revealed she had in fact won £15,000 ! ;D
Still i thought she did well - what's a few grand these days ??
I just ADORE Deal or No Deal. It's addictive viewing, well better than Millionnaire. I was chuffed to bits when JT went away with nearly 40 grand. I always make sure Im hone from work in time to see it.
Noel Edmonds is SO cool too, esp when he's on the phone to the Banker. Who is this banker person anyway???

I know the American one was slightly differnet, but someone finally have the $1,000,000 in their box the other day and dealt at a little over $200,000! I felt terrible for the poor girl. She should have kept going. But, the stress does start to get to you and she had some really small numbers left on the board, but it's been the first person to have $1 million.
Also, a guy proposed to his girlfriend on the show the other week...it was so cute :) Before he dealt...and then he was like "I have everything I could possibly want now" ... really made for good TV.

Tonights show was one of the best ever. The guys name was Morris and he got all the way to the final two boxes with £20,000 & £250,000 left. The banker offered £101,000 but Morris bravely turned it down and said ..... "no deal" - that of coarse after Noel took us for one of his Tarrant esque adverts.
The banker went on to offer the swap - No.16 for No.7 & Morris stuck to his guns. When Noel flung the box open to reveal his prize ..... you guessed it -
£20,000 :-( ;D ;)
still he was a real brave contestant & have to admire his courage.

Its great to have Noel back on telly again. Did anyone see the sketch they did on *dead ringers last night *Deal or no deal. It was v.funny. *;) Unfortunately I don't get to watch the show v.much. But i think they repeat it on More4 a bit later in the day.
So I shall make more of an effort. After playing the game that was posted up here, I think it will make more sense to me know. :)
I adore Deal or no Deal but I never understand why if someone has had a string of reds, they say the are "due a blue" because as they say at the top of the show, they choose the boxes themselves so its all totally random. The adjudicator assigns the amounts to the boxes yes, but the contestants choose them themselves.

What I was thinking yesterday is, If I was standing in one of the wings and the person in the 'hot seat' asked me to open my box and it had £250,000 in it...Id feel more gutted then them! Because if I was picked to sit in the 'hot seat' that day, I would have had £250,000 in box!!! That would do me nicely!!!

I LOVE the show and try never to miss an episode, but have you noticed how the contestants seem perfectly normal when they're in the east/west wing, then as soon as they get in the chair, they turn these mad crazy characters! And they're all in tears when the big money goes.
Sometimes it gets a bit too much to watch!
